City of Brampton’s Climate Plan

Hi All,
FYI –
Here’s how one city is doing it. I wonder if they might need some help with implementation?

Council strengthens 2030 emissions target

Over the past couple of months, our team has been working closely with Brampton city councillors and staff to strengthen the city’s climate plan.

On September 23, council voted unanimously to support the climate plan and decided to go even further by increasing its 2030 target from 20 per cent to 30 per cent below 2016 levels.

Climate scientists have been telling us that the action we take by 2030 will determine our climate future.

Let’s celebrate Brampton for its leadership in adopting one of the most ambitious 2030 targets in the region.

As a suburban city, Brampton faces many unique challenges especially with transportation. With this climate plan, Brampton could pave the way for suburban cities across Canada.

Sincerely,
Malkeet Sandhu, Community Organizer, David Suzuki Foundation

Message from the Community Task Force Co-Chairs

Many municipalities are developing Climate Action Plans, and it is important that Brampton develop its own, locally relevant plan. As Co-Chair s of the City of Brampton’s Community Energy and Emissions Reduction Plan Community Task Force, we are pleased to submit Our 2040 Energy Transition: Community Energy and Emissions Reduction Plan.

Brampton has responded to the climate change crisis with municipal leadership by developing the Brampton 2040 Vision, declaring a climate emergency, and joining the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

You can learn more about Brampton’s climate plan HERE.
